Leeds United have once again backed the annual Mission Christmas campaign that aims to support some of the most deprived families in our local communities during the festive period.

Members of the Leeds United first-team squad have made their own monetary donation, as they have done previously, and the Mission Christmas yellow bus pulled up at Elland Road earlier this week to receive a donation of Leeds United goodies from CEO Angus Kinnear and Director of Football, Victor Orta.

The club have been involved in the special campaign for the last few seasons after finding out more about the Cash for Kids charity and discovering how many children are currently living in poverty and go without any presents to open on Christmas Day.

Mission Christmas encourages people to make donations of gifts or money during the festive period to try and make sure this isn’t the case and ensure that all youngsters have something to open on Christmas morning.

Pulse 1 Charity Manager, Lisa Sullivan, said: "We are absolutely overwhelmed with the support of Leeds United. To donate £15,000 to Mission Christmas is just amazing and we can never thank them enough for their kindness and generosity.

"It just shows how much they care about their local community. Thank you to everyone, especially Liam Cooper, for organising this”

In 2020, Mission Christmas collected over £12.7m in gifts and cash donations, which was used to make sure that 254,352 children and young people had presents to open on Christmas Day. A total of 16,811 children and young people received gifts. This year, the charity is expecting record levels of requests for help.
