Rainbow Laces Marching out Together

Leeds United are pleased to announce the club has been shortlisted in the Professional Game category at this year's Football v Homophobia Awards.

The annual awards ceremony will take place at the renowned Òran Mór venue in Glasgow on Friday 7th March and will celebrate a number of individuals, groups and organisations across football who continue to make significant steps and progress in the fight against homophobia and discrimination.

Nominated by our very own LGBTQ+ supporter's group, Marching Out Together, the club has been recognised for its impressive internal and community work, alongside the ongoing efforts to raise awareness and show support to the LGBTQ+ community, ensuring Elland Road offers a welcoming and safe environment for all supporters and visitors.

Andrew Tilly, Co-Founder of Marching Out Together, said: "We are absolutely delighted that Leeds United has received this well-deserved prestigious nomination. Over the last six years, the club has worked closely with Marching Out Together to make Elland Road a safe and welcoming place for LGBTQ+ fans.

"In addition, its work within the Academy and in the local community, including its high-profile sponsorship of Leeds Pride, has also been powerful and effective. Led by CEO Angus Kinnear, together with other fabulous allies, the club has secured lasting changes which are welcomed by the LGBTQ+ community and its allies."

Football v Homophobia is an international initiative that exists to challenge discrimination based on sexual orientation, gender identity and expression at all levels in football. The campaign encourages education, campaigning, advice and guidance, research and policy consultation, helping to create opportunities, promote positive engagement, improve representation and realise the potential of football in society as a tool to create much needed change.
