The Leeds United Foundation is pleased to announce a new partnership with the This Girl Can initiative that will encourage young women in the local community to get fit.

As part of the new partnership, a 12-week programme will be launched in the coming weeks entitled ‘Females Get Active’ that will be aimed at women aged between 18 and 35, combining education with physical activity.

Female supporters joining the programme will be able to focus on their mental and physical health, learning more about the importance of leading a healthy and active lifestyle. Through the partnership, participants will gain access to educational workshops that will help them to overcome barriers with physical activity, ultimately helping you to become more active through various forms of exercise.

The club’s official charity are initially looking for 20 females in the local community to sign up to the initiative that will really benefit from this new provision, with weekly sessions taking place at Elland Road every Monday from 6.30pm to 8pm.

Each session will be broken down into two sections, the first will be a classroom-based session that focuses on a variety of health and wellbeing topics such as diet and exercise, health benefits and alcohol intake, with the final 45 minutes used to encourage exercise participation, with various activities being led by a Leeds United Foundation coach. Some of the forms of exercise you may be able to get involved with, include Soccercise and Yoga with the aim of creating your own sports club at the end of the 12-weeks.

Throughout the duration of the course, there will also be special appearances from female influencers and role models, including members of the Leeds United Women’s team, helping to inspire and provide motivation for members to ensure they are able to thrive.
