Women & Girls
Dates: Wednesday & Friday September-July
Age group: 7-14
Locations: Aspire at the Park, Grammar School at Leeds, King James High School, Scarborough
Brief overview: The Development Centre’s main aim is to increase participation in girls’ football – offering young females who are interested in playing the sport and developing their skills the opportunity to do so.
This programme has been designed to find and nurture talent from a young age within our region, providing a platform for the girls to perform at their best level after receiving first-class coaching and support.
The Development Centre programme is for females only, with one training session taking place each week with qualified coaches from the club’s official charity. For those that wish to continue playing football there will also be the opportunity to progress into the Girls Academy within the Foundation and the Shadow Squad.
Sessions will be based on individualised coaching, providing the opportunity for females to improve not only their skills and technique but also confidence, covering all aspects of the game. This means that the sessions are training specific as opposed to including small games for the players to take part in – each player can therefore continue to play for a local grassroots team whilst training among the Leeds United Foundation.
