The Leeds United Foundation recently celebrated their partnership with Arla after the local organisation signed up to support the charity for another year.

To mark the occasion a special event was hosted at Elland Road with 20 representatives from Arla along with 90 children from Beeston Primary School, who were invited to attend along with their teachers to participate in a range of educational workshops which included a talk from some local Arla farmers around how food makes it into supermarkets, smoothie making and mental wellbeing along with a tour of the stadium and the chance to take a penalty against Lucas the Kop Cat.

As an added bonus, Under-21 stars Charlie Allen and Luca Thomas also stopped by during the event to surprise the children. The Leeds United duo were on hand towards the end of the day to spend some time having photos and answering questions from the pupils and those in attedance.

Arla have been supporting the club’s official charity for a number of seasons, helping to fund the delivery of the Healthy Families programme which includes our Healthy Holiday half-term camps and the Healthy Schools sessions which take place during term time for young students in Year 1, Year 2, Year 3 and Year 4.

The Healthy Families initiative supports those in disadvantaged areas of the city, not only helping to improve the health, wellbeing and safety of youngsters and their families but also helping to provide food hampers during periods where they may be struggling, especially for those during school holidays who would usually receive free school meals.

Rachel Newman, the Healthy Families Lead at the Leeds United Foundation, said: “The partnership with Arla has allowed us to work in our local communities, supporting local families with a range of activities including primary school lessons and holiday provision, which encourages young people to lead active lifestyles, developing skills and build confidence.”
