Mateo Joseph and Dani van den Heuvel were the special guests at the annual Christmas lunch that is hosted for participants and family members of the Leeds United Foundation Dementia Café recently.

The Leeds United Under-21 duo were on hand to meet and celebrate with members who suffer with early on-set dementia and attend monthly sessions with the club's official charity, reminiscing and reflecting about all things to do with Leeds United.

During the visit the striker and goalkeeper spent time chatting with participants, taking photos and learning more about the programme that is being delivered by the Health and Wellbeing team at the club’s official charity.

The Foundation host this special Christmas lunch, free of charge, for the members every year at Elland Road, giving them the chance to come together and enjoy a fun day out with their loved ones during the festive period.

Mateo Joseph spoke to LUTV during the visit and said: "It’s been great to come along with Dani today and learn more about this programme, meet all of these people and chat with them. They all clearly love Leeds United, and it was really nice to hear about their past experiences with the club and hopefully they enjoyed meeting us and telling us all about their special memories.”

The Dementia Café continues to be delivered with the help of Leeds City Council Peer Support Group and allows those suffering with dementia and their carers to meet new people going through similar circumstances with each session used to keep them active and social.
