Club mascot makes surprise appearance.

Kop Cat St Gemma's Hospice

Recently, Leeds United club mascot Lucas the Kop Cat was welcomed to St Gemma's Hospice, a local facility that provides the best possible care for local people with cancer and other life-limiting illnesses.

Starting in Out-Patients before heading to the In-Patients unit, Kop Cat caused plenty of excitement for residents, bringing smiles, laughter, and lots of photo opportunities for patients, families and colleagues.

Among those he met was Linda, who was enjoying her afternoon in Out-Patients and was delighted to be surprised, and spend time, with her favourite team's mascot, just one of many joyful moments shared across the Hospice on the day.

This visit was part of the long-standing relationship between the Leeds United Foundation and St Gemma's Hospice, and the club's charity will be supporting the hospice and their Young People's Service over the coming year, including trips to Elland Road for some of the children involved with the programme.

Commenting on the visit, Laura Speight, Head of Patient Care at St Gemma’s Hospice said: "We’re proud of our long-standing relationship with Leeds United and are delighted to be working together once again to create meaningful and memorable experiences for our patients and their families.

"This partnership will be especially important for the children and young people we support, who are facing the serious illness or loss of someone close to them. Opportunities to visit Elland Road and feel part of the wider Leeds United community will give them something truly special to look forward to."
