Leeds United Under-21s added another point to their league tally with a draw away at West Bromwich Albion Under-21s on Friday afternoon.

The Whites came from a goal behind to lead in the clash at the Fitlife Foods Performance Centre, before the Baggies equalised themselves late on in the game.

Speaking to leedsunited.com straight after the match, player-coach Jonny Howson gave us his thoughts on the game.

“We are obviously a little bit disappointed,” the experienced mentor said, reflecting on the late leveller from the hosts.

“I think whenever you concede late on and drop points and you don't win the game, I am naturally a bit disappointed because it is like anything competitive, we want to win games of football.

“But you can't fault the effort, we have had a very busy schedule of late, everyone has dug in.

“There are a few lads who have given it all they have possibly got and they were hanging on in the end fitness-wise.”

Heading into the weekend, Howson and the rest of the squad will be looking to recuperate once more, before then returning to action against Fleetwood Town in the Vertu Trophy.

“I think it's a great opportunity for the lads, going and playing a league side,” Jonny said, ahead of the next game.

“Playing a first team side is a great opportunity because ultimately that is where the lads want to get and want to be competing.

“It is a great opportunity to go and test yourself against high-level opposition, a first team. So, yeah, we should be really looking forward to it and be ready to go.”
