Leeds Pride 2019 will take place today in Leeds city centre and once again Leeds United will be supporting the festival and Marching Out Together.
The annual event is held to celebrate and champion the lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender (LGBT+) community, with the hope of encouraging more people to get involved in the celebrations and helping to create awareness around achievements and legal rights.
Leeds Pride is the biggest one day festival in the city and dubbed Yorkshire’s biggest celebration of LGBT+ life. The event is the highlight of the LGBT+ calendar in Leeds and there were over 40,000 people involved with the festival last year.
Members of Marching Out Together, the Leeds United Supporters Group for LGBT+ fans and their allies, will be walking in the parade later today along with Lucas the Kop Cat and they will be handing out a limited number of specially designed ‘Leeds United supports Pride’ merchandise, including hand-held flags, stickers and t-shirts.
The entertainment will begin from 12pm in Millennium Square with the parade due to take place at 2pm through the city centre, entertainment will then continue from 3pm on Lower Briggate.
Marching Out Together will be meeting at 1pm ahead of the parade near the Rose Bowl which is located by Leeds Civic Hall - please go along to meet them if you are available.
