Archie Gray and Joe Rodon paid a special visit to Our Lady's Catholic Primary School recently to take part in an educational workshop with the Leeds United Foundation focused on anti-bullying.

The Leeds United duo were on hand to meet pupils from Year 5 who were taking part in a session being delivered by coaches from the club's official charity, with Anti-Bullying Week taking place from Monday 13th November to Friday 17th November.

The Wales and England internationals were able to get involved in various tasks with the classroom, supporting the students with their work as they looked at the differences between bullying and cyber-bullying and a number of different scenarios where they had to think of different ways they could help others being bullied.

Archie Gray spoke to LUTV during the educational session, and he said: “It’s really important to talk about bullying especially for these kids in school, when you’re a young kid you don’t always know who to speak to and it is really important to raise awareness with these kids that you can speak to anyone, whether it’s a teacher or parents, and just know what to do when it happens.

“It’s important as well that they know the different types of bullying, to help give them a better idea as they’re getting older around dealing with difficult situations.”

Mrs Stephanie Flaherty, Headteacher at Our Lady's Catholic Primary School, added: “We have a well established slogan in our school ‘See Something, Say Something’ and so we’re always teaching about anti-bullying throughout the year, but to actually learn about it through Leeds United and to see the players coming in to reinforce these messages has been really special and has really embedded their learning.”

The Premier League Primary Stars programme is currently being delivered across a number of different primary schools throughout Leeds, with the aim of using the power of football and Leeds United to engage young students not just on the pitch but also off the pitch around different subjects and important topics, such as bullying.
