Jesse Marsch has spoken with the media in Perth, ahead of Friday’s match against fellow Premier League side, Crystal Palace.

The Whites play their final fixture on the pre-season tour of Australia, before returning to England to take on Cagliari at Elland Road next week in their final match before the new season gets underway.

Speaking about the camp so far both on and off the pitch, Marsch has been pleased with the two matches against Brisbane Roar and Aston Villa and the fitness of his side.

Equally, the head coach has been hugely impressed with the support the team has received Down Under and the amount of Leeds United colours on show.

“Everyone has been incredibly welcoming,” Marsch stated.

“The amount of scarfs and colours we’ve seen already in town has been very impressive. It was the same in Brisbane and also on the Gold Coast.

“So many of our fans have come out and shown passion for our team, talking about staying up in the middle of the night to watch us play last season, so it’s exciting to be here and we want to deliver one more good match for them on Friday night.

“The first two matches were good for us. We’ve worked on our fitness, so we want to maximise our last three days here before we head back.

“The guys are healthy and fit and I think we’re in the right direction so, so far so good!”

The clash with the Eagles gets underway at 11:05 (BST) and 18:05 (AWST). Both teams are looking to finish on a high before returning to England and will face off the at the iconic Optus Stadium.

Marsch previewed the game, saying: “We’re all privileged to be in this business.

“The Premier League is the best in the world, but there is no love lost. The competitive drive for everyone in this league to be the best and do the best at all moments is what makes the league so special.

“For us, we try to make that a big part of our DNA. Every time we step on the pitch it’s personal and we want to always deliver our best performance. We always have respect for our opponents but we want to be at our best, at all times.

“They’ve [Palace] been a bit stretched with some Covid issues they’ve had to deal with inside their club.

“They didn’t bring everyone but they still have a strong team and I saw that a lot of their guys started against Manchester United in Melbourne, and played a lot of minutes.

“We’ll see what they look like, but we are hopeful to get a strong team [to play against] so that it is a good test for us."
