Leeds United head coach Jesse Marsch spoke to the media following Sunday’s defeat at Arsenal.

The Whites suffered two early goals at the Emirates Stadium, followed by a red card, but put in a spirited display in the second half, eventually going down 2-1.

Marsch gave his verdict on the beginning of the match, along with his overall assessment.

“It was unexpected as I felt the preparation was really good,” said Marsch.

“Obviously we made some fatal errors and we had to fight through the game and I’d say we did, the second half was very good.

“That’s what we talked about at half time, we didn’t want to dig a bigger hole for ourselves, we wanted to defend hard as a group and try to get a goal from a set-piece and make it interesting and we did that, so I though the second half was very good.

“We have to focus on positive things right now, we know we are in a hole and we have to dig ourselves out.

“There has been some injury issues and now we will have some suspension issues, but if our backs are against the wall, we have to fight even more and do whatever it takes to claw ourselves out of this situation.

“Our minds are totally right now about Wednesday night against Chelsea at home.”
