Continuing what has been a productive summer behind the scenes at Elland Road, Jayden Bogle committed his long-term future to the club by putting pen-to-paper on a new contract, following fellow defender Joe Rodon in doing so. As far as decisions go, it felt the obvious choice for the marauding full-back.
“It was an easy one for me,” he smiled, chatting exclusively with LUTV about extending his deal. “A lot of different emotions. Proud – I had a bit of time to reflect on how the journey has gone so far. It has been special. Something that you dream of when you are a kid is playing in an atmosphere like this, competing in the best league in the world. So far, it has been amazing.”
Part of a Championship winning squad and last campaign’s team that competed so well as a newly promoted side in the top division, the 26-year-old believes the environment at the club fosters its infectious positive mentality, at all levels.
“I think I said when I first signed, you can feel the winning feeling around the place and how much the club wants to achieve. This club has been in special places in the past and I think everyone has got the ambition to get back to there.
“I think you can feel the vibe around the place. Everyone is really excited. The fans, the players, the staff, everyone associated with the club can feel there is a good vibe around the place. The ambition from the club feeds all the way through to the players, to the staff and the fans. So, I think everyone is on the right path and it is something I really wanted to be a part of.
“There are so many elements that contribute into you making a decision. Are you happy? Are you enjoying where you are? I am. My family love it here. Again, the atmosphere that this place brings and the vibes around the place is amazing. You want to be assured that the club is at the same level of ambition that you have.”
It is not just the club as a collective Jayden thinks is going in the right direction. By his own admission, the defender has improved no end since joining Leeds in 2024. In just two seasons at Elland Road, the full-back has excelled week in, week out.
Firstly, a starring role in the Sky Bet Championship brought six goals, five assists, deserved recognition in the EFL Championship Team of the Season and PFA Team of the Year and, most importantly, the second-tier title.
Then, during the Whites’ maiden term back in the Premier League last time around, the right-back translated that form into the top-flight with ease, making 39 appearances across all competitions and showing his versatility with a number of different roles down the flank.
“I think I have in many different aspects,” he added, reflecting on how far he has come in such a short period of time. “And I think that pressure can bring the best out of you as well, channeling it in the right way. So, yeah, I think I have developed well as a player.”
After the previous campaign’s displays in the Premier League and with four new exciting arrivals coming through the Elland Road door, including winger Harry Wilson who Bogle is thrilled to be linking up with down the right-hand side, there is a real sense of optimism with the season’s curtain raiser just around the corner.
With optimism comes expectation, though that is beneficial in Jayden’s mind, who explained: “I think it is good pressure. I think you need that pressure to go on and be successful but not get too carried away as well. We obviously know it is a very tough league and we need to approach every game in the right way. That starts from now.
“We have got a fantastic group and a fantastic changing room. You can see when we go out onto the pitch, how everyone is willing to fight for each other and everyone has got each other’s backs. In the changing room, at the right times, there is laughing and jokes as well. So, I think we have got a great balance.”
The Whites start the 2026/27 Premier League season this weekend with a trip to the City Ground to face Nottingham Forest.
