Leeds United goalkeeper Illan Meslier has spoken with the media prior to the final two matches of the season, beginning this weekend with Brighton & Hove Albion at Elland Road.

The Whites go into the game looking to bounce back from recent defeats against three sides in the top four of the league and the ‘keeper remains focused on the ask at hand.

Illan began by reflecting on those recent defeats against Manchester City, Arsenal and Chelsea.

He said: “The last three games were difficult against good teams, big teams.

“We tried to give the maximum and unfortunately and we finished two games with 10 players. It was difficult, but we didn’t give up.

“We tried to win the games, we tried to get some points, but this can happen in football. In this moment we have to stay strong and together, because we are one team.

“It’s very important for the club and for us to stay focused because we know the prize at the end of the season. We will fight for the club, for the staff and for the fans.”

Now looking ahead to the final two games of the season, the Leeds United number one has a clear message and has stated the ambitions of himself and his teammates.

"We have two games left, so we have six points to play for,” Meslier explained.

“The league will finish at Brentford on 95 minutes and until the last second, the team will believe we can stay up.

“We will give more than 100 per cent to stay up, to try and win against Brighton and Brentford, it’s not over.

“Teams have to play, teams have to win. For me, we will give the maximum from ourselves until the end, it’s our mentality.

“We have six points and we can finish on 40 points, we have two games and we can beat these two teams, so we will try to beat those two teams.”
