Leeds United midfielder Ilia Gruev is set to face Romania and Slovenia over the next week, after recently being named in Bulgaria coach Ilian Iliev's latest international squad.
A 2023 summer signing from Werder Bremen, Gruev made 35 appearances for the Whites during the last campaign, as Daniel Farke's side reached the Championship Play-off Final.
The Bulgarian international scored his first goal for the club, in May's crucial semi-final 4-0 win over Norwich City at Elland Road, later saying it was one "he won't forget".
Gruev has been ever-present for the national team since making his debut against Gibraltar in September 2022, featuring 16 times for the Lions, including their most recent fixture, a 1-1 draw with Azerbaijan.
Managed by former Benfica and AEK Athens star Ilian Iliev, Bulgaria head to the Steaua Stadium on Tuesday 4th June (7:30pm), where they will face Romania, before flying to Ljubljana, for their second friendly against Slovenia on Saturday 8th June (2pm).
