Leeds United Women take to another Yorkshire derby on Sunday, welcoming Huddersfield Town Women to the BD Community Stadium in the FA WNL Cup Group Stage.
Ahead of the Group T fixture, goalkeeper and summer signing Holly Mears previewed the clash against the West Yorkshire rivals.
"I’m excited I think it’s going to be good test for the team which we are all ready for," the new recruit began. "I think we’ll put out a strong performance and hopefully get a positive result.
"I’m expecting a challenge from Huddersfield as they were newly promoted so I’m expecting lots of shots and a lot to do which I think will provide us with a strong test and challenge us as a team."
The fixture is only the Whites' second on home turf so far this campaign, after trips to Chester-le-Street, Chorley and Halifax made up three of the first four on the schedule.
On the return to Garforth, Mears added: "I’m looking forward to be playing back in front of the home fans. There’s always something special about playing at home, and we’re excited to put in a strong performance and give the fans something to be proud of.
"I’m enjoying my time at Leeds so far. It’s been a positive start and I’m settling in well. Im looking forward to continuing to develop and making the most of the opportunities here."
Scoring 18 and only conceding two, Leeds have a record to be envious so far this campaign. Commenting on that, the stopped added: "The defensive side is very important as it gives the team a strong foundation to build on, stay organised, disciplined and hardworking.
"It also puts us in a great position to get positive results. Everyone has a role to play defensively, not just the back line and that collective effort is going to be key going into future games.
"A cup run is really important for us this season. We want to compete as much as we can in this competition that we’re involved in and give the fans some special moments to enjoy. The cup run can create great momentum and bring the team together which allow us to go as far as we can in it."
