Amelie has been diagnosed with an extremely rare motor neurone disorder impacting heavily on her mobility, known as Hereditary Spastic Paraplegia (HSP), which is a condition that affects less than 0.1% of the population.

The family - who live locally near Wetherby - are aiming to travel out to the USA in May, in order for their daughter Amelie to undergo a life changing operation. She will then go through a rehabilitation process and ongoing physiotherapy treatment.

The surgery will offer Amelie the chance to be pain free and increase her mobility, which will mean she can stay active with her family and friends.

You can learn more about Amelie’s story by watching the video below, titled ‘Hope for Amelie’.
