The Leeds United Foundation have shown their support for a local charity called Sarah’s Goal by donating a large amount of football boots.
The club’s official charity work in partnership with Garforth Football League who informed coaches about the local initiative that is centred around supporting young people who may face barriers in being able to participate in football. This could be for a number of reasons, including parents or carers struggling financially due to illness, redundancy, bereavement, low income or any other changes in circumstance.
So far the non-profit charitable organisation has worked hard to provide items of clothing and boots or trainers to children and teenagers throughout South and West Yorkshire who need essential items of kit to take part in sports as well as using money donated to fund holiday coaching days and pay subs for youngsters looking to play for a local team.
The charity was created in memory of Sarah Hanson Powell, a young mother who sadly passed away following a fight against cancer in 2011. Football was one of Sarah’s main passions in life and her family decided to build a charity worthy of her as just like Sarah they believed everyone should be able to play football and be part of a team, no matter what their circumstances are.
