The Leeds United Foundation have entered into an exciting new partnership with Mount St Mary’s Catholic High School and the Premier League Charitable Fund to invest in a career’s advice programme.
This exciting new relationship, with thanks to the Professional Footballers Association and their funding that will continue to develop over the next two years, will see the club’s official charity build a Careers Information Advice and Guidance initiative to support young people in our local communities.
The new programme will specifically engage youngsters in developing important life skills, increasing their knowledge on important matters that will help to guide them through the important decisions they will have to make as they grow older.
Through the new partnership a new role has also been created, with Ashleigh Martlew taking up the position of Careers Advisor within the Foundation. This new position has been made to really inspire young people to learn, be active, increase their understanding on different topics and improve their confidence.
Ashleigh will be on hand to work with youngsters and help them to make informed choices, creating and building plans for their future learning and career. Part of her role will be to develop young people’s interest in education surrounding important life skills through creativity and innovation, whilst also bridging the gap between education and the professional working world.
This new project will also involve opportunities for students in enterprise and work experience, helping to support their level of employability and personal development.
The new Careers Advisor, Ashleigh Martlew, said: “I am excited to be part of this new project and want to progress in my own career whilst inspiring and engaging the young people at Mount St Mary’s and in the local community.
“The main aim of the programme is to support youngsters, helping them to make the right choices and progress into positive pathways."
