Additional defensive experience and versatility today arrived in the form of England international James Justin.
The 27-year-old moves to Elland Road from Leicester City, penning a long-term deal that will keep him with the Whites until 2029.
Below are eight facts and figures about our latest recruit...
The defender made his debut for the Three Lions in a 2022 clash with Hungary away from home. Previously, Justin had featured for England’s Under-20s and Under-21s – scoring once for the latter in an encounter with Albania.
James began his career with boyhood club Luton Town where he would help the Hatters secure the Sky Bet League One title in 2018/19 before Leicester came calling for his signature. That campaign at Kenilworth Road also saw the defender named in the EFL Team of the Season and the PFA League One Team of the Year.
Following the switch from Bedfordshire, he earned a Premier League debut in 2019 against Watford and seized the opportunity, grabbing an assist in a 2-0 victory over the Hornets. Two games into the following season, a first goal in the top-flight would arrive in a win against Burnley.
Predominantly a right-back, James has also made nearly 100 appearances on the left side of defence, as well as proving himself to be a more than capable operator on either flank in a more advanced role or even as a centre-half!
Justin arrives at Elland Road having lifted silverware with the Foxes during his time at the King Power Stadium. The defender was an important member of Brendan Rodgers’ side that won the FA Cup in 2021!
As well as Premier League and international experience, Justin has also featured on the continental front during his career! He made six appearances as the Foxes qualified for the knockout phase of the 2020/21 UEFA Europa League, before starring as Leicester reached the semi-finals of the Conference League the following campaign, lining up against Stade Rennais, PSV Eindhoven and eventual champions AS Roma.
The 27-year-old has faced his new club five times throughout his career, winning twice and losing on three occasions. Most recently, he played the full 90 minutes as Daniel Farke’s side fought from a goal behind to beat the Foxes in a memorable 3-1 victory at Elland Road.
James’ first appearance for the Whites in the top-flight will be his 100th overall in the Premier League. As well as England’s most prestigious division, Justin has also featured over 130 times in the EFL.
