Leeds United trio Ethan Ampadu, Joe Rodon and Karl Darlow’s Wales were narrowly beaten in Cardiff by Belgium in Monday evening’s World Cup qualifier.
The Dragons’ can still progress to next summer’s tournament with ties against Liechtenstein and North Macedonia to follow next month.
Speaking after the 4-2 defeat to the team ranked eighth in the world, versatile midfielder Ampadu believes the result will only act as motivation for the side’s November double header.
“One thing is to reflect on the performance and maybe you can take some positives out there but then ultimately the result is what we wanted,” the 25-year-old told BBC Sport Wales after the full-time whistle.
“Disappointed with the goals, so maybe against a good team [they were] cheap goals to give away and we paid the price for it.
“As I said, we started very well on the front foot bringing the game to life and then it is a bit of a sucker punch.
“We are professional footballers. You go through disappointments, you go through hard defeats and tough results but we have got to pick ourselves up.
“We are going to do that. Obviously, there is a little bit of a gap now to go to the club teams but when we come back, the pride of playing for Wales will get us through that.”
