Ellie White: There is a buzz around the place

Ellie White signing 2

Ellie White became the third new player to join Leeds United Women over the summer, signing from Northern Premier Division side Halifax Women.

The 26-year-old midfielder follows former teammates Shauna Legge and Drew Greene in linking up with the Whites and has begun putting in the hard yards as she starts pre-season training.

A childhood fan growing up, Ellie says she is delighted to finally be able to pull on the famous white jersey and represent her club.

“It has been quite a quick process and I am excited to get going,” the midfielder explained. “I have supported Leeds all of my life, so it is nice to wear that badge and get on with the team.”

“I knew Simon from back when I was at the Centre of Excellence, so it was good to speak to a familiar face and he knows what I am about.

“It was nice to know that someone wanted me and was interested in me and knew what I was about.

“I was really pleased when Simon got in touch and it was a smooth process from there, so I am excited to get going.

“There is a nice buzz around the place and all the players seem lovely, so I am excited to see what is to come and the season ahead.

“I have always been told that I am quite a creative player and get a lot of assists. I like to get on the scoresheet as well.

“I like to get the ball at my feet, playing central midfield, box to box, so I will work my socks off for the team.”

Ellie joins former teammates Shauna Legge and Drew Greene in making the switch from Halifax Women and is pleased to be linking up with the duo once more.

“It is nice to come with players that I have played with for quite a while. I was with Shauna at Halifax, Brighouse and Huddersfield, so she is a familiar face which is nice to have them players around and help you feel secure in the team.

“I get on with them really well on and off the pitch, so it is nice to have that familiarity. It is nice to meet all the girls as well, I’m new so I am excited to get going and see what is on offer.”

Fans may get a chance to see Ellie in action for the first time as the Whites face Doncaster Rovers Belles in the Julie Chipchase Trophy on Sunday 4th August. More information about that match can be found HERE.
