The match officials for Tuesday evening’s EFL Cup Second Round tie against Nottingham Forest have been announced, with Andrew Kitchen set to take charge at the City Ground.
So far this campaign, the referee has overseen two Sky Bet Championship encounters, including a recent clash between West Ham United and Charlton which saw Leeds United loanee Joël Piroe net a first goal for the Hammers.
The EFL Cup tie will be just the third match involving the Whites Kitchen has taken charge of. In the 2023/24 season, United were held to a draw at now League One side Huddersfield Town.
The following season, Daniel James’ early strike was enough to secure an important three points at Middlesbrough in the run up to promotion under Daniel Farke.
Nottingham Forest, meanwhile, have only ever featured once under the watchful eye of the referee, beating Exeter City on penalties in an Emirates FA Cup fixture in February 2025.
Running the touchlines are Mark Stevens and Alex James with Stephen Parkinson appointed as Fourth Official. At this stage of the competition, VAR is not in operation.
