Helder Costa and Leif Davis were on hand to make a special visit to Leeds Children's Hospital on Thursday afternoon to spend time with brave youngsters on the congenital heart ward.

The duo of first-team players travelled to the city centre following training to meet with Children's Heart Surgery Fund and learn more about the work they do with the hospital and in particular with Ward 51, helping to support babies and young people suffering with congenital heart disease.

Staff from the club's official charity then introduced the Leeds United defender and winger to patients and families currently receiving care on the ward and they spent time chatting with them, learning about procedures and surgeries, handing out Leeds United goodies, signing autographs and having photos taken.

Helder Costa spoke to LUTV during the visit and said: "It's the first time I've been to the hospital since I joined the club in the summer and although it was hard to see what these families are going through, I'm so glad we could come even if it was just to break up their day and put a smile on their faces for a short time.

"The families are so strong and all of the staff that work here do an amazing job looking after them. If we can help to raise any awareness around what Children's Heart Surgery Fund do and the support they give them, then that is brilliant."

The club are working closely with Children's Heart Surgery Fund to help purchase vital equipment that will help to save the lives of thousands of young children. The much-needed machinery includes a Super-Life Support Machine and a new Dialysis machine.

If you are able to support the local charity as they work hard to purchase this life-saving equipment for the Paediatric Intensive Care Unit at Leeds Children's Hospital please visit justgiving.com/All-Leeds-All-Heart and make a donation!
