Leeds United manager Daniel Farke spoke to LUTV following Wednesday’s pre-season match in Oslo, Norway.
The Whites suffered a two-nil defeat at the Ullevaal Stadion against Manchester United as preparations for the 2023/24 campaign got under way.
Despite the result, Farke felt there were plenty of positives to take, given the short turnaround since being appointed manager of the club.
“I always struggle to accept a loss if I’m honest,” said Farke.
“Overall though, I have to say, it is a solid start and let’s be honest, this game came a little too early in our situation, but we wanted to play this game.
“There were many things I liked in the first half, obviously we had to concede an unbelievable amount of possession and Manchester United created a lot of pressure, but I liked our attitude.
“We looked compact, good and solid with defending, there were two or three individual mistakes where we allowed them to have a big chance, but apart from this, I thought we dug in and showed a good attitude to defend our goal.
“We also looked sharp on the counter attack, so there were many things I liked in the first half.
“In the second half, we brought the game more into their half and looked sharp with our pressing and created chances.
“However, we have to play without mistakes to also return in the second half with a clean sheet.
“Sadly there were one or two individual errors in the defence and this changed the momentum, otherwise I think we could be talking about a solid draw or even a win.
“Overall though, I have to give my lads some compliments, because for a first game against Manchester United, just after a few days, it was a solid start.”
