Manager Daniel Farke expects a stern test at the weekend as his Leeds United welcome Fabian Hürzeler’s Brighon & Hove Albion to Elland Road.

Even though his team have achieved their target of top-flight survival, the boss is clear his side want to fight for every point available still, beginning with the high-flying Seagulls before the final day encounter with West Ham United.

“Fantastic what they have achieved,” Farke began, discussing Sunday’s opposition. “They are established, many solid finishes even in the top half of the table.

“And again, Fabian has also done a fantastic job during this season. There was also a spell for them when it was a bit tricky but he has stabilised the team during the season.

“They are right now fighting for the Champions League, at least for Europe anyhow, and yeah, amazing position. Their processes and their approaches are quite remarkable and for that they deserve lots of credit.”

On the Whites’ terrific first season back in the Premier League, the German added: “To be there already safe, right now on 44 points with two games to go, it is a pretty privileged position and we value this.

“And so we can play this game with a smile on our face but nevertheless we want to extend our unbeaten run. We want to win as many points as possible and there are still six more points to fight for. We will fight desperately for each and every point.

“Big thank you, of course, also to my players, my staff, not just during this season but really from the first day I walked in. It is a joy to work with them and, yeah, pretty thankful also to them.

“Also, the biggest thank you goes out to all supporters because really from the first day, I got so much support, so much trust, so much faith and so much positivity.

“We have a huge fanbase and such a passionate fanbase. Everyone loves this club so much and cares so much about this club. Everyone wants us to succeed.”
