Leeds United face Cardiff City at Elland Road on Sunday, in their opening match of the Sky Bet Championship season.

The Whites face the Bluebirds to begin the 2023/24 campaign for each side, in the eagerly anticipated 2:30pm kick-off, live on Sky Sports.

Speaking ahead of the match, Daniel Farke gave his thoughts to the media.

“Obviously I'm looking forward to this game,” the manager began.

“The first game of season is always exciting and the first game at Elland Road, even more special.

“I was a few times at Elland Road and I know that the atmosphere is always great and outstanding, especially first game after the summer break.

“We're all looking forward to having this first competitive game. Now the real stuff begins and we’re all looking forward to it.”

Having joined the Whites this summer, Farke was asked about his experience of the Championship, after he has previously won the division twice whilst at Norwich City.

He said: “It’s always good to have this experience.

“It's always good that you that you know what is necessary to be successful.

“I think experience always helps, it’s not a guarantee that it will work again, but in general, I know it's a big task.

“I think our situation is where we just improve. The last two friendlies were quite impressive.

“I'm pleased with this and for me, the most important topic is that we as a group have unity and togetherness.”
