Leeds United begin their Carabao Cup journey at home to Middlesbrough on Wednesday evening, under the lights of Elland Road.

The Whites face Boro in the 8pm kick-off, looking to secure a passage into round two of the competition.

Speaking ahead of the match, Daniel Farke gave his thoughts to the media.

He said: “First of all, we know that we face one of the best sides in this league.

“So, for me, they are also one of the favourites to finish in the top six at least.

“It's definitely a really good side and they spoke about their ambition, they have a really good coach and really quality players.

“I think also a good blend of experienced and exciting young players and we know also from last season how tight and competitive the games were [against Middlesbrough].

“They will come with confidence after a first win [against Swansea at the weekend], they will come also with confidence after a proper cup run in the last season [Boro reached the semi-final].

“They know that you can sometimes even celebrate some magic nights in this cup competition, and they will try to repeat this again.

“For that we are pretty, pretty respectful but we are also highly motivated and we know that when we are at our best we have a great chance to go into the next round.

“I expect on both sides also a few changes. We will see what the outcome is, but I expect a tight game and hopefully with a better ending for us.”
