Leeds United Women manager, Dan O’Hearne spoke to LUTV following the 2-0 victory over Doncaster Rovers Belles.

The Whites put on a strong display in the Julie Chipchase Memorial game, as they ended pre-season unbeaten,

The side are now looking ahead of next Sunday’s big clash with Stockport County Women.

“It’s been a really good pre-season, obviously we’ve finished it off today with the cup game which was a really entertaining game,” explained O’Hearne.

“I thought we dominated from start to finish, first half we had a lot of possession but the final pass was lacking.

“We sorted it out at half time and managed to get the two goals in the second half.

“We’ve come through unscathed today, injury wise so that’s good, obviously training Tuesday and Thursday, then we’ll be ready to go!”

The manager was asked what the memorial fixture against the Belles - which will now be played annually - meant to him.

He said: “I did my coaching badges with Julie, she was a lovely person and he football knowledge was unbelievable.

“I could sit and speak to her for hours about football, it’s been a big loss but I’m glad there was a big crowd here today to turnout for her.

“Julie deserves the turnout today, she was a special woman, an excellent coach and I’m just proud that I knew her.

“She was a real driving force of women’s football.”
