Leeds United welcome Liverpool to Elland Road on Monday evening and the fixture is being dedicated to the No Room For Racism campaign (NRFR), which was launched by the Premier League to tackle racism in football and demonstrate its continued commitment to equality and diversity.
The initiative sends a strong message that the League and its clubs will not tolerate racist behaviour anywhere and fans are being urged to challenge and report racism wherever it takes place, including online discriminatory abuse.
To raise awareness and support the work being done around the No Room For Racism campaign, there will be a range of NRFR branding around the stadium for the match on Monday. A special ball plinth will be used ahead of kick-off along with a branded backdrop that will be in place for the line-up and pin badges will be worn by all players and backroom staff. This activity is being used to highlight the League and clubs’ year-round commitment to combatting discrimination and promoting equality, diversity, and inclusion across all areas of football.
Leeds United have worked closely with the Premier League over the duration of the 2020/21 season to show their support in raising awareness around the campaign with first-team players involved throughout. Ahead of this gameweek Leeds United Women’s captain Bridie Hannon joined Tyler Roberts, who has already taken part in a number of community initiatives and content sessions for educational resources around the NRFR initiative, at Elland Road to take part in a discussion around racism and discrimination. The conversation between the duo will be used by the Premier League as additional resource in tackling racism, and educating supporters and youngsters around how to deal with abuse and how to report it.
In the lead up to of kick-off a video produced by the Premier League earlier in the season, featuring Leeds United and England star Kalvin Phillips, will also be shown on the big screen which calls on all supporters to 'Challenge it, report it, change it.'
