The Leeds United Fans Foodbank was in place at Elland Road for the final time of 2021 on Saturday evening, with the Leeds United Supporters’ Trust and their volunteers completing their last collection of the year.

Although Christmas is often described as the happiest time of the year, for thousands it is a time when they struggle the most, when they struggle to keep up with heating and electric bills let along being able to put food on the tables every night.

The incredible Leeds United fanbase once again showed their support for the fan-led initiative that is supported by the club throughout the season, bringing donations of food items and making monetary donations on arrival at the stadium.

The club also wanted to make a special donation to help in the lead up to Christmas, with club captain Liam Cooper on hand to make the large delivery, giving him the chance to speak with and thank the volunteers hard at work and make his own personal donation to the important cause.

The Leeds United Fans Foodbank will be back in 2022 and situated in its usual space outside the East Stand, as it has been for the past three years.

Thus far, aside from the thousands of food items that have been generously donated and helped to provide over 50,000 meals, over £106,000 has also been donated – an incredible amount of money that continues to support the most vulnerable individuals and families in our local communities.

The two foodbanks that are located in Leeds (Leeds North & West and Leeds South & East Foodbanks) and that are supported by the Leeds United Fans Foodbank, will continue to ask for donations from match goers in the New Year, especially due to the ongoing effects of the worldwide pandemic.

A massive thank you to everyone that has shown their support for the matchday foodbank, whether you have donated items or money, you are helping those who need it the most.
