Leeds United ground out a muddy victory Wednesday afternoon away to Norton & Stockton Ancients Ladies that will see the Whites move to third in the FA Women’s National League Division One North, with a game in hand. In the 3-2 win, two of Leeds’ goals came from corners delivered by summer signing Chloe Dixon.
After the match, the winger spoke to LUTV about her team’s spirit.
“I give credit to Norton—they played fantastically, to come back and give us a game. But I absolutely credit our team. What a way that was to grind out a victory. We absolutely deserved those three points, and we did not stop fighting until the very end.
“After Norton equalised at 2-2, I think we all knew we had dropped the standard a little bit. From there though, we just had a sense of belief in each other—I certainly believe in everyone on that pitch—and we knew it was now or never. We knew we needed to go for the win.
“I absolutely love it here at Leeds. I love playing for this club, I feel like all the others are my best mates. To contribute for the team, help us to get the win, it feels phenomenal.”
