Young midfielder Charlie Crew recently put pen to paper on a new four-year deal at the club, tying the Wales international down to Elland Road until 2028.
Having featured in matchday squads towards the end of last season, the 18-year-old hopes to impress ahead of the 2024/25 Sky Bet Championship campaign.
“It is a special moment for me and my family,” said Crew. “It is something that I was always looking and hoping for and it is something that, at a club like this, means so much to me.
“Since coming in two years ago, it has just been unbelievable, from all the coaches to all the players. So, signing a new deal means everything to me and I can’t wait to start the new season strongly.
“I think since coming in, I have only gone upwards and only moved forward. That is down to the coaches I have worked with and all the players. I definitely think I have moved forward, and I am looking ahead to this season because I think I can push on even more.
“The club is unbelievable at producing players as you have seen. It is now about following in their footsteps really and getting a taste for first team football, showing the manager that he can trust me, moving forward and working hard.”
Having represented his native Wales through different youth age groups, Crew was handed a first appearance for the Dragons in a friendly against Gibraltar over the summer.
Now, the versatile midfielder wants to use those experiences to continue progressing with the Whites.
“It was a special moment. It was very nerve-wracking before I came on but something that I have always wanted to do since I started playing football. I was really happy with that and hopefully there are many more to come.
“I am with Ethan, Dan and Joe everyday and they have helped me settle in really well. If I can get up to their level, then I am sure I will have had a good career.
“I am just going to keep working hard and settling into the group which I think I did towards the end of last season.
“This season, I really want to push on and try and get in and around the matchday squads, play a few games, and just show the manager what I bring to the side and hopefully play in front of the fans at Elland Road.”
