Charlie Crew earned his first senior cap for Wales on Thursday evening, coming off the bench in the 0-0 draw with Gibraltar at the Estadio Algarve.

Having progressed through Wales' youth ranks, from U15s to U21s, over the last two years, Crew impressed The Dragon's head coach Rob Page enough to be included in their most recent squad.

At 17 years 11 months 22 days, the midfielder replaced Charlie Savage in the 78th minute, going on to make 22 touches, 13 successful passes and win one duel, as he looked to push Wales forward.

Ahead of the fixture, Crew told FA Wales of his pride at being called up, saying "It was probably the best news I've had so far in my footballing career. It's a massive achievement and a really proud moment for myself and my family."

"My family were very excited, especially my grandad, he's a massive Wales fan, so was over the moon."

Crew has been joined in the Wales squad by familiar faces in Dan James and Ethan Ampadu, who have helped him settle in and offered up words of advice.

"They just said to go there and enjoy it and show the other lads why I got the call-up. They've helped me settle in really well, training has been great, as has the bits away from football and I'm really enjoying it so far."
