Leeds defender set to appear at EURO Finals

England U21s head coach Lee Carsley named his squad for this summer’s EURO Finals in Georgia and Romania, with Leeds United defender Charlie Cresswell included.

The Young Lions head out to their base in Kobuleti in Georgia later this week, following two training camps at St. George’s Park since the end of the domestic campaign and a warm-up game against Japan last weekend.Carsley’s 23-man squad will take on Czech Republic, Israel and Germany in their group games, with the top two teams in the group then progressing into the quarter-final knockout stages.All of the squad have played a role in England’s qualifying campaign, which saw them top their group with eight wins from ten games including two victories against Czech Republic who they will kick-off against in the Finals on Thursday 22nd June (5pm BST).They then take on Israel on Sunday 25th June (5pm BST), before their final group game against Germany on Wednesday 28th June (5pm BST).

Cresswell played 30 times whilst on-loan at Millwall this season, scoring five times from centre-back and becoming a fan favourite, as the side finished 8th in the Championship, a single point outside the play-off places.

The defender has played nine times for England's U21s, featuring in seven of their last eight games, of which the Young Lions only lost once.
