Long-standing Leeds United Women’s player Bridie Hannon has today announced her retirement from football.

The defender has called time on her illustrious career, having represented the club for over a decade and making over 150 appearances for the Whites, scoring 17 goals.

As well as becoming a stalwart in the side over multiple seasons, Hannon proudly wore the captain’s armband on 41 occasions.

Voted as the Players’ Player of the Season in 2021 and becoming the first woman to be nominated for the club’s Goal of the Season award, the centre-back continued to excel and was instrumental in helping Leeds lift the FA Women’s National League Plate after beating Stourbridge in the 2023 final.

Bridie then took a break from football as she began a family, before working her way back to full fitness this campaign and making a number of appearances with the Under-23s side, passing on her invaluable experience to those at the start of their footballing journeys with the club.

Supporters will also recognise Hannon for her punditry work with LUTV, as well as being a vocal supporter of the Leeds United Foundation and championing its invaluable work in the community. She was also recognised as one of the most inspirational women in the city back in 2024.

It is with the club’s official charity that her next exciting opportunity follows, with more information to be announced next week.

Everyone at Leeds United would like to thank Bridie for her service to the club and congratulate her on what has been a stellar career. We wish her all the best for her future endeavours.

After calling time on her career, Bridie sat down with LUTV to discuss her journey in the game and what the club means to her. Read our in-depth interview, HERE.
