After the productive pre-season tour of the US drew to a close with the impressive 4-2 victory over Liverpool, which saw Brenden Aaronson’s goal kickstart the comeback, attentions now turn to the next triple header of exciting clashes.
Linking up with the squad after his World Cup exploits with the States, the American can’t wait to be back out there on the Elland Road pitch and give supporters a glimpse of the progress made over the last month, starting with the visit of Bundesliga outfit RB Leipzig.
“We have a lot of really good friendlies coming up,” the 25-year-old said. “Of course, we have Manchester United in Dublin. We have Leipzig at the weekend coming up. We have Augsburg after that.
“It is crazy to say that we are only halfway through pre-season! We are looking forward to these next three games to get some more minutes under our legs and then get us ready for the new season.
“It has been a good summer where I got to work on a lot of things. I got to get better. That is my goal to transfer what I have been doing this pre-season so far and then, yeah, bring it into the year.”
While yet to train with England international goalkeeper James Trafford, who this week joined the Whites from Manchester City in a club record deal, another new signing has particularly impressed Aaronson as he spoke glowingly about defender Tarik Muharemović.
“Oh, he is top! Everything that I have seen so far – top. I really, really enjoy the player that he is. He wants to play; he wants to get on the ball. He has got a great left foot and is not afraid to get into a challenge.
“I feel like he has got everything in a centre-back that you want, especially to play with. I am someone who likes to get on the ball in between lines and drive with the ball. He is always looking for these passes so, yeah, it is a pleasure to play with him. He is going to bring so much quality to the team.”
With the Premier League curtain raiser with Nottingham Forest just over a fortnight away, Brenden is thrilled about returning to competitive action and believes the foundations are there to build on a fine maiden season back in the top-flight previously this time around.
“It is a very tough league to play in. You know, week in, week out, against the best players in the world. For me, it is the best league in the world. To compete there had always been my dream.
“I want to continue to have success from the league and success with Leeds because I love the club and I love being a part of this team. I love all the guys on the team. It is amazing to be part of this club.”
