Jaka Bijol played the full 90 minutes as Slovenia secured a 2-0 victory over North Macedonia in their UEFA Nations League clash in Ljubljana.

The Leeds United defender, 27, started at the heart of Slovenia’s defence and helped his side keep a clean sheet at Stadion Stožice.

Sandi Lovrić opened the scoring 10 minutes after half-time, before Aljoša Matko added a second in the 82nd minute to seal Slovenia’s first win of the Nations League campaign.

Bijol produced an impressive defensive display, making a match-high 11 defensive contributions.

He also recorded eight clearances, two blocks and one interception, while making three recoveries and winning five duels.

The centre-back had 65 touches and completed 45 passes, helping Slovenia control the game as they recorded 16 shots to North Macedonia’s nine.

The result moves Slovenia on to four points from their opening two matches, with Bijol set to face Leeds United teammate Nico Elvedi’s Switzerland on Saturday.
