Leeds United midfielder Ao Tanaka has been named in the latest Japan squad ahead of their upcoming March international fixtures.
Head coach Hajime Moriyasu has selected a 28-player group for friendlies against Scotland and England later this month.
Japan will first travel to face Scotland at Hampden Park on Sunday 29 March, before taking on England at Wembley Stadium on Wednesday 1 April.
Moriyasu’s side arrive into the international break in strong form, having already secured qualification for this summer’s World Cup - becoming the first nation to do so. They have been drawn in Group F, where they will face Netherlands and Tunisia, with their final group opponent still to be decided from a play-off involving Ukraine, Sweden, Albania or Poland.
Tanaka has featured 23 times for Leeds United so far this season, scoring three goals - finding the net against Chelsea, Liverpool and Derby County.
The clash with England could also see Tanaka come up against a familiar face, with Leeds United teammate Dominic Calvert-Lewin included in the England squad.
