Leeds United Women currently sit in third place in the Division One North Women's National League having played their first three fixtures of the 2020/21 campaign.
Their last game, played at home against Chester-le-Street, resulted in a 0-0 draw which followed on from a loss on the opening day to Norton & Stockton Ancients and a 1-0 win against Durham Cestria.
Alice Hughes spoke to LUTV after Sunday's game to discuss the team's start to the new season and life at Leeds United following her move from Hull City in the Summer.
The midfielder said: "It was a frustrating game, we had a few chances especially in the first half that we should have taken but I think we've got to look at the positives from the game, keeping a clean sheet and keep working hard and look forward to the next fixture.
"I'm really enjoying my time here, it's a good group of girls and we've all got the same aim of achieving promotion. The games have been hard, we could have maybe picked up more points but we're just looking at the next game, it's a long season and we've just got to keep working.
"We play Newcastle next so we will be working hard in training, keep pushing ourselves, working on taking our chances when we get them and defending, keeping clean sheets. Fingers crossed we can get the three points."
Leeds United Women will take on Newcastle at Global Stadium on Sunday 11th October with kick-off scheduled for 2pm.
