Heading up the A1 to the Tyne and Wear will take supporters to two of the upcoming season’s Premier League venues in Newcastle United’s St. James’ Park and Sunderland’s Stadium of Light.
The trip to Tyneside last campaign brought an enthralling encounter in which Daniel Farke’s side led on three separate occasions through Brenden Aaronson’s brace and Dominic Calvert-Lewin’s penalty but ultimately fell to a 4-3 defeat deep into stoppage time.
In the reverse fixture at Elland Road, the two teams played out an attritional draw in West Yorkshire. That stalemate in just our second home game last August match took the Whites to four points from their opening three matches on our return to the top-flight.
The final league position of 12th was the lowest Newcastle had placed in five seasons and they sat just two points clear of the newly-promoted Whites having qualified for the UEFA Champions League the term prior.
Leeds’ last victory at St. James' Park came in 2021 with Brazilian international forward Raphinha notably on target behind closed doors. The same term, the Magpies were despatched 5-2 in LS11!

Slightly south of our most northerly opponents are Newcastle’s fierce rivals Sunderland. The Black Cats were promoted to the Premier League alongside ourselves and enjoyed a fine campaign on their return to the top-flight, finishing seventh.
Leeds’ trip to Wearside saw us earn a valuable point over the festive period with Calvert-Lewin on hand to round off a sublime team move, worked out from the back and all the way up the field.
The narrow defeat inflicted by Régis Le Bris’ team at Elland Road was a frustrating one towards the end of the season, which United will be keen to avenge in our final home encounter of this approaching term. That match could of course move, if either team reach the Emirates FA Cup Final.
The trip to the North East is scheduled for late October and could also move, this time depending on the Mackems’ European involvement.

Shutting out the noise from one of the highest profile Sky Bet Championship Play-Off campaigns last season were Hull City, edging past Middlesbrough in dramatic fashion with a late winner under Wembley’s arch.
Since relegation from the Premier League in 2017, the Tigers had struggled for consistency and even endured a stint in the third tier but under the guidance of Bosnian boss Sergej Jakirović, Hull finished sixth before embarking on their fruitful Play-Off endeavours.
The Whites’ last visit to the MKM Stadium saw the spoils shared in a 3-3 draw while United were 2-0 victors in the reverse fixture at Elland Road with Joël Piroe netting in the second half! Our journey along the M62 in 2020 proved a memorable one as West Yorkshire triumphed 4-0 over East Yorkshire!
Both ties will be held midweek with our trip to Humberside 2026’s final match. The Tigers visit Elland Road in the beginning of March.
