The Angolan international central defender, who signed a new two-year contract with United at the end of the 2007/08 season, scored his first goal for the Elland Road club on August 18 2007 in a 4-1 victory over Southend United.
He was a first choice defender for United in the first half of the 2007/08 season but then missed a number of matches in January 2008 when he linked up with Angola for the African Cup of Nations.
He regained his place in the United side after his return from international duty, even captaining the side until he picked up an injury and was replaced by Paul Huntington.
