A Danish international, Casper established himself as United's Number One choice keeper during last season when he made 50 appearances.

A firm favourite with United fans, the 6ft 3in keeper signed a three-year contract with the club at the beginning of August 2007after initially coming from Brondby on a loan deal.

As United set off to wipe out the 15 point penalty imposed on the club, he kept seven clean sheets in United's opening 12 games of the campaign. His exploits were noted elsewhere and he was deservedly rewarded with the Coca-Cola League One Player of the Month award for September 2007.

When Gary McAllister took over from Dennis Wise, the keeper kept up his excellent form with a string of clean sheets. In all he kept 23 clean sheets as United forged their way into the League One play-off finals only to fall at the very last hurdle.
