Former Manchester City midfielder Adam Clayton joined the club in August 2010 with manager Simon Grayson describing him as "a player for the future."
He joined the club on the Friday afternoon and made his debut in the Elland Road season opener against Derby County.

The youngster, who has also won six England under-20 caps, didn't make an appearance at Man City but he made 36 appearances on loan at Carlisle United in 2009/10, scoring three goals during his time at Brunton Park. Adam was among the Carlisle goalscorers when Leeds lost out to the Cumbrians in the JPT Area Final in 2010.
He made four substitute appearances for Leeds during the 2010/11 season, but after spending time on loan at Peterborough, he enjoyed a successful spell with MK Dons, helping the club reach the Play-Off semi-finals.

Adam's second season at Elland Road proved more successful as he established himself as something of a regular at the heart of the midfield. He made 46 appearances and scored six league goals, including a late equaliser at West Ham and the Goal of the Season winner, against Leicester City.
