Slovakian international defender Lubo was a regular choice at centre back during the first half of the 2008-2009 season but struggled to retain a place in the side once the experienced Richard Naylor joined United from Ipswich Town in January.
Lubo had established himself at the heart of United's defence following his return to Elland Road on a permanent contract at the end of the January 2008 transfer window.
His solid performances in partnership with first Rui Marques and then Paul Huntington were such as to make him an-ever present in United's final 20 games of the 2007-2008 season.
He had initially joined United in March 2007 when then manager Dennis Wise persuaded Bolton Wanderers to allow him to come on loan and he was on the point of coming to Leeds when Wise left. But new boss Gary McAllister still wanted the player to come.
Lubo had originally signed for Bolton in January 2007 from FC Senec on a three-and-a-half- year deal, but after impressing at Leeds later that season, he joined the club permanently the following year.
