Australian international central defender who enjoyed a clean sweep at the club's Player of the Year Awards in May 2010 - but was hit by two long-term injuries.
Paddy had to write off all but 10 minutes of the following season due to an Achilles injury and after making a successful comeback from that in the summer of 2011, the defender made 21 appearances before suffering an injury against Burnley on New Year's Day that was to rule him out of the remainder of the season.

Popular Paddy had won the Player of the Year and the Players Player of the Year awards after making a massive impression during his first season with the club, and he was rewarded with a new two-year contract in the summer of 2011.
Patrick had opted to join United during the summer of 2009 despite interest from a host of Championship clubs, signed a two-year contract in July, and wasted little time in making an impact.
He made 35 appearances and was a rock at the heart of the defence until an Achilles injury not only ended his season in March, but also ended his dreams of representing Australia in the 2010 World Cup finals. It was a disappointing end to the season for the player, yet he continued to be a permanent fixture in the dressing room, even on away trips, and his importance to the promotion winning squad cannot be emphasised enough.

The 28-year-old joined after a four-year stint at Leicester City, where he made 140 appearances. He was a virtual ever-present for his first three seasons at the Walkers Stadium, but made just 10 appearances in his last campaign.
The defender started his career with South Melbourne before moving to Scotland with Hearts. He featured in the UEFA cup for the Tynecastle side, and moved south of the border two years later to join Leicester.

Patrick, who was quick to speak of his desire to prove Leicester City were wrong not to extend his stay, brings a wealth of experience to the United squad.
He went straight into Simon Grayson's side, making his debut against Exeter City at Elland Road when he needed 12 stitches in a head wound. Patrick was also involved in Australia's games against the Republic of Ireland South Korea, where he scored.
