Kevin Nicholls needed little convincing that Leeds United was the place to be, particularly after a guided tour around Elland Road stadium.

On arriving in Leeds earlier this week, after United agreed a £700,000 fee with Luton for his services, Kevin made a beeline straight for the ground he will now call home.

"I just looked from the outside and thought 'what is this club doing in the Championship?'," smiled Kevin.

"It has a massive stadium and all the resources of a Premiership club. It's massive in the Premier League and we're not even there at the moment!

"When I came I was shown around the stands, the pitch, the boxes and when the gaffer came to meet me he said 'glad you like it, but we've saved the best until last'.

"He meant the training ground - and that is THE best I have ever seen."

Kevin put pen to paper on a four-year deal with United on Wednesday afternoon and is now gearing up for a push for promotion.

The midfielder is hoping to make his debut at Nottingham Forest on Saturday and says he cannot wait to get started.

"This is a big club and I just hope to be playing," he said.

"I'm desperate to play against Norwich and I want to make a good start.

"I've captained two promotion winning sides at Luton and that's something I'm proud of.

"I played in every division with Luton except the Premiership and that's where I hope to go with Leeds. That's the aim."
