HELD BY HULL
Jonny Howson completed ninety minutes as the reserves were held 1-1 at home by Hull City on Wednesday night.
The midfielder returned to action after suffering a knee injury during the 3-2 defeat at Swansea City on December 29 and looked sharp throughout.
Neil Thompson's men enjoyed the better of proceedings against the Tigers, but were denied all three points after a Stuart Elliott equaliser in the second half.
United's own Elliott - Tom - had opened the scoring in the first period, when he headed home a Howson corner, and the striker went close on two other occasions.
Scott Gardner also tested the visiting goalkeeper as United dominated the first 45 minutes, but Hull were level nine minutes after the break after the experienced Stuart Elliott delivered a good finish.
Fabian Delph and Howson both went close to restoring the advantage, but both sides had to be content with a point.
There was disappointment in the stoppage time, though, when United substitute Duane Grace was shown the red card,
United: Martin, Madden, Wilkinson, Milne (Grace 70), Fisher, Gardner, Howson, Rothery (Ovington 82), Delph, Weston, Elliott (Cartman 72). Subs (not used): Lund, Ovington, Grace.
