Sebastian Sorsa

United boss Dennis Wise is hoping to sign Finnish winger Sebastian Sorsa when the transfer window re-opens in January.

And the United boss also revealed he is still pursuing his interest in Bolton's Slovakian central defender Lubo Michalik.

Sorsa, a 23-year-old former Finland under-21 international, is currently with HJK Helsinki, but his contract expires on December 31 and he is available on a Bosman transfer.

He has trained with the club, and impressed the boss.

"He's a winger who caught our eye, and did well," said Wisey.

"We've spoken with him and I'll be looking to bring him in.

"He's got a lot of pace and good ability. What we've seen we liked, and I'm hoping to sign him in January."

Slovakian international defender Lubo is another the boss has his eye on for when the window re-opens.

Lubo Michalik shows his disappointment at Colchester

Lubo made seven appearances for the club while on loan last season - the defender scored the winner against Plymouth at Elland Road in April - but he has recently forced himself into the reckoning at Bolton.

With Rui Marques set to join up with Angola early in the New Year, the boss is looking for more strength at the back.

"I am after a centre-back, and I think everyone knows who," said Dennis. "I've been chasing Lubo for a long time.

"It would be nice if we could make something happen there. I have to look for the right time to do the right thing.

"We know what he is about, and we missed him when he went back last season. He'd be perfect."

The boss says he is looking to strengthen in several areas in the New Year and is looking at targets.

"There's three or four players I'd like to get," he revealed. "I'm looking at the long-term, with young players who can provide good competition for what we have.

"I'm not talking 18-year-olds, but players aged 24 or 25 with games and the experience to make us better."
