MORE CUP JOY
United's youngsters eased through to the fourth round of the FA Youth Cup with a 3-0 win at Luton on Wednesday night.
Tom Elliott scored twice and Fabian Delph also found the mark as the lads coasted to victory at Kenilworth Road.
Academy boss Neil Thompson was delighted with the performance as his side recorded their third successive cup win away from home.
"It was a good performance," said Neil. "We passed it well, dealt with what they threw at us, and could have won by more in the end.
"The lads created chances and showed a good work-ethic."
United were dealt a blow after just 10 minutes of the tie, though, when defender Tom Lees was stretchered from the field with suspected knee ligament damage.
But Delph opened the scoring with a terrific goal on 24 minutes and United always had the advantage after that. He linked up well with Chris Ovington as United broke quickly before finishing from the edge of the box.
Elliott doubled the advantage before the break when he headed home an Ollie Hotchkiss corner on 36 minutes.
Luton stepped up a gear after the break, delivering balls into the box, but United stuck to the task, and Elliott completed the victory on 69 minutes with another good finish.
